Indian Plastics Industry Eyes US$ 25 billion Exports by 2025- PLEXCONCIL

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 15: Buoyed with a robust export performance for the year 2021-22 that pegged the plastics exports to over USD 13 billion with a 30 percent growth over the previous fiscal, PLEXCONCIL, the apex trade body for plastics exporters in India, is now eyeing plastics exports worth of US$ 25 billion by 2025, which will take India’s share in the global plastics export market to three percent by 2025, revealed Shri Arvind Goenka, Chairman, The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL), while announcing Export Excellence Awards for 2017-2021and the Launch of Export – Focused Trade Fair for the Plastics Industry-  PLEXCONNECT 2023, which will take place at Hotel Taj President on 16th April, 2022 in Mumbai in the gracious presence of Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon. Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India.

PLEXCONCIL, an Export Promotion Council sponsored by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has announced Export Excellence Awards after a gap of two pandemic – hit years. Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon. Minister of Commerce &Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India will felicitate the Award Winners as the Chief Guest.

Shri Arvind Goenka, Chairman, PLEXCONCIL, Shri Hemant Minocha, Vice Chairman, PLEXCONCIL, Shri Ravish Kamath, Immediate past Chairman, PLEXCONCIL and Shri Sribash Das mohapatra, Executive Director, PLEXCONCIL will be present for the event along with other dignitaries of PLEXCONCIL.

Announcing the Export Excellence Awards for 20217 – 2021, Shri Arvind Goenka, Chairman, PLEXCONCIL said, “The Indian plastics industry, which is a major contributor to the country’s economy by manufacturing goods worth Rs 3 Lakh crore annually, is aggressively moving on exports front. We are eyeing plastics exports to the tune of USD 25 billion by 2025, which will take India into the prime spot in global plastics exports. The exports are targeted in traditional markets of North America and Europe and also in emerging markets like Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Oceania countries. With adequate impetus from the Government, the Indian plastics industry is transforming from a linear to a circular economy benefiting all the stakeholders.”

Speaking about Export Excellence Awards, Shri Goenka said, “The Export Excellence Awards will recognise excellence in Plastics exports and encourage towards the process of nation building by fuelling economic growth and prosperity through exports.”

Vice Chairman Shri Hemant Minocha, PLEXCONCIL said, “This year, the Council will be recognising exporters in as many as 50 Award categories and onenew Award category of Life Time Achievement Award.” The event will also witness the launch of PLEXCONNECT 2023 – An Export – Focused Trade Fair for the Plastics Industry, and PLEX E Pages that will feature over 20,000 players from the Indian plastics industry in an e-directory format. PLEXCONNECT 2023 aims to provide an ideal and dedicated platform to plastics exporters, mainly MSME players, to showcase their prowess to an international audience.The Event will also focus on key topics of industry’s interest such as technology up-gradation, promoting entrepreneurship in exports, incentives and schemes for new players, etc.
